Gifts from the Heart…

Gifts from the Heart…

Welcome to 2018 and the year of the ND LWML District Convention. Although it is still several months until the convention in June, it is the perfect time to begin collecting for our ingathering projects! There is plenty of time to involve your entire congregation in gathering the items. We have three organizations we will be gathering for, and they are:

Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch:

  • Bibles (NIV preferred)
  • Christian music
  • Art supplies
  • Gift cards
  • Equipment for summer activities (balls, games, fishing items, noncompetitive items
    Servant

Domestic Violence Crisis Center: (all new items)

  • Women’s undergarments
  • Bath towels
  • Pillow cases/twin sheets and bedding
  • Personal and feminine care products
  • Motel soaps, lotion, etc.

Dakota Hope Clinic : (baby boutique—all new items)

  • Diaper(s) size 3, 4, 5
  • Sleep sacks with zipper
  • Most any baby items

Missions in Motion – A new approach!

Our district convention is held at the beginning of summer, and the weather can be unpredictable – hot, cool, rainy – one never knows if the weather will be conducive to walking for our regular Missions in Motion walk. What if we try Missions in Motion a different way! I call it a 20 x $30 Challenge. We tried this at Shepherd of the Valley in Bismarck, presenting the Challenge after services on LWML Sunday in October. We asked for 20 families to give $30 within the next 30 days. We made it fun by giving people envelopes with feet stickers on them and asked that they place the envelope in the mite box. At the end of October we had collected $420 in mites, over 60% of what we distributed. You can make this Challenge your own, determining the number that would work with your congregation. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, Sue Hartley, at blessingspreserved@yahoo.com.
